In addition, Stephen works with many domestic clients, engaging with companies and individual inventors to draft original patent applications that capture the inventive concepts disclosed by these parties.
In his prosecution practice, Stephen understands the importance of USPTO patent interviews, and frequently engages with examiners during this process in order to convey the details related to applications he is handling for his clients. He also understands the power of appeal and frequently sends cases to the PTAB when matters cannot be resolved through mutual compromise. As a believer in obtaining the highest quality patents, Stephen will fight for the best possible claim scope for his clients.
While attending law school, Stephen served as an editor and a board member on a law review journal focused on intellectual property law. After graduating law school in 2008, he worked for an intellectual property boutique in Alexandria, Virginia, where he focused his practice primarily on patent prosecution. Stephen joined Nixon & Vanderhye in 2011 and became a Shareholder in 2015. Today, he actively participates in firm management.
