Joseph A. Rhoa
Joseph Rhoa has served as lead counsel in numerous patent infringement litigations, winning victories that have secured his clients’ intellectual property rights, large monetary payments, and increased the value of their portfolios.
Joseph Rhoa, a Nixon Vanderhye Shareholder, has extensive patent prosecution and litigation experience. His practice encompasses drafting and filing patent applications for clients; representing plaintiffs and defendants in federal trial and appellate courts, and parties in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC); conducting inter partes reviews (IPRs); and advising on patent licensing matters.
Clients with innovations in the electrical and mechanical arenas rely on Joe’s deep knowledge of technology and commitment to advancing the value of their IP assets.
Before Joe joined Nixon Vanderhye in 1999, he was a patent attorney at an IP firm in Washington, D.C. While in law school, he worked as a patent examiner for four years at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The knowledge of knowing what examiners are looking for when reviewing applications continues to inform his patent prosecution practice today.
