Donghua (Dorothy) Deng, Ph.D.
Dorothy Deng credits part of her professional success to her willingness to help and serve others.
Dr. Dorothy Deng, a Nixon Vanderhye Shareholder, handles all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, with a special focus in the fields of computer and electrical engineering. She has a deep understanding of wireless telecommunication devices and infrastructure, computer software, business methods, and mechanical engineering. Dorothy is also skilled in preparing patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions for clients.
Dorothy, who earned her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, shares her knowledge of communication networks and software engineering in articles and papers published in various journals and presented at technology conferences. She won the best paper award at an international conference on networking and is the author of a chapter appearing in Advances in Machine Learning Applications in Software Engineering. In addition, Dorothy served on the technical program and organization committees for multiple international conferences on networking communication and software engineering.
Prior to attending law school, Dorothy was a member of technical staff at Juniper Networks, Inc., where she co-developed framework to support large-scale enterprise network management solutions. She holds a U.S. patent in merging schemas of different versions of network devices for her work while at Juniper Networks. Dorothy also interned at AT&T Labs, Inc., where she worked on Network System Engineering Optimization tools across Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), Transport, and Broadband networks.
Dorothy is recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly, as one of “Virginia’s Go To Lawyers” - Intellectual Property (2022).
